Tentena – Australian citizen Lisa Nulty suddenly suffered an acute shortness of breath attack while visiting Lake Poso. The emergency condition nearly cost her life.
Fortunately, her husband and tour guide acted quickly by rushing her to Sinar Kasih Hospital in Tentena. However, due to limited medical equipment at the hospital, the patient was later referred to Poso General Hospital (RSUD Poso) on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) for more intensive treatment.
Upon learning that a foreign tourist had fallen ill, the Poso Regional Government immediately intervened. Poso Regional Secretary Herningsih Tampai stated that she had directly instructed the Director of RSUD Poso to ensure maximum care.
“I have instructed the Director of RSUD Poso to provide intensive treatment and to make sure the patient is assisted until she is fully recovered so she can continue her journey,” said the Regional Secretary.
Support also came from other officials. Head of Poso Bappeda, Frits Sam Purnama Kandori, and Secretary of the Poso Tourism Office, I Ketut Winaya, visited her, offered support, and even provided necessities such as pillows, mineral water, and extra food.
The visit from the local government officials moved the Australian couple deeply. Ridwan, the tour guide accompanying them, expressed his admiration for the quick response of the regional government.
“Amazing, the Poso government is very responsive,” Ridwan said.
Based on available information, Lisa Nulty is expected to undergo treatment at RSUD Poso for three days before continuing her trip to Palu City.
